Trust me I know I have a lot of hair. IT's long, thick and there's a LOT of it!!! so when I see women on youtube talking about thier wonderful hair styles they've created, I am always envious, because with all this hair, most times my hair won't do what normal hair will do!!! BUT... I saw a video yesterday where the girl put her hair in a bun with a sock and it left her with lovely loose curls the next day. I didn't have a sock but my hair was already in a bun of sorts so I just left it in over night. and here are the results...

Usually my hair is also FRIZZY, so this is a definite possibility for me. I didn't put any product in my hair so I'm sure it will fall flat as soon as I walk out the door, but it turned out pretty good for the 1st attempt.

I do love owls as much as the next person, but trying to find them in my thrift/flea market adventures has been frustrating!!! I finally found these 2 cuties at a thrift shop i don't usually haunt ( but i will now!!!) they are actually salt/pepper shakers. Says Japan on the bottom. Dig the colors!!!! stay tuned for their transformation.... :-)

I found these 2 lovelies waiting for me at a very nice ladies flea market table. The aqua vintage one is round, some staining but just so VINTAGE!!! I couldnt resist :-) the strawberry one doesnt seem to have much staining at all - is a square one. Paid $1 each!!!!! OHHHHHHH YEAAAAAHHHH!!!

An Adventure in Repurposing!!!

So I've had quite the adventure in repurposing a yard sale find into a wedding present!

Here is what i started with: I knew that a coworker was getting married soon and that her wedding was on the beach and that she was going with a beachy theme. She will have mini adorandack chairs on her cake. So when i spied this chair/frame at a garage sale I knew I had to get it!!!

After the 1st few coats of spray paint it looked like this:

I am new to spray paint. This was after like 3 coats but the under colors were really still shining thru!!! I turned to a somewhat tan color and gave it a few coats of that and then went back with the white and it was much better!! Note to self, start with a primer coat 1st and then the rest will go so much better!!! I also learned to take off hardware before you paint!! The frame had just 4 small arms on the back, I thought it would be ok just to put tape on them but that was a nightmare!!

So in the end here is what i ended up with:

The jewels really made it look super cute! ( I think) Hope the bride and groom will agree!!! (LOL)

About a month or so ago, I stumbled upon a teacher blog and the blogger was hosting an Accessory Swap. Sounded like a cool idea to me so I signed up!!! I was matched up with Rachel, a 1st grade teach in Idaho. We exchanged tastes in accessories and below are the goodies that arrived earlier this week from her.

Everything came in thier own little organza bag, ( TOO CUTE!) I totally needed the brown and white earrings for the wedding I'm going to this weekend, perfect timing!!!

Her package went in the mail today, I'm a bit behind due to me feeling like CRAP this week.

2 weeks till Spring Break YAA HOO!!!

Buttons & Books....

Make me Happy!!!
The buttons I got a few weeks ago at an Estate sale, it's the same bunch of buttons in both pics, I got them for $1!!!
The books I got today at my favorite thrift shop. It was %50 percent off day.. so I paid a total of $9 for 16 books!! WOO HOO!!! very good day in the kids book section, I was really happy with the Biscuit books cause that is mostly what I was looking for and there were 2 of them just waiting for me today!

I am now fascinated with Thrifting blogs!!! I have always had a 'thing' for thrift shops and now I see so many others share my fascination with them!!! I first remember thrifting when I was in college, but necessarily because of the cheapness, but more so a thrill with the one of a kind clothing, decorations, etc, that I could find!!!

I am not a big "NAME BRAND" type person. I do have a few 'name brands' that I stay with but not too many.

I did pick up 2 'name brand' tops at my local thrift shop yesterday. I was more attracted by the color of the first one more than anything.

The green/blue one is 3/4 sleeves with a kinda cowl neck, by Izod.

I paid $6. :-)

The second is long sleeves, but thin material, by Gap.

I mentioned earlier that I love all of Michelle W's stuff. Well she has posted in the past her Inspiration stations that she put together around the holidays. I've been drooling over all the TWINE that I've been seeing on cards lately. I've checked around locally and no one is really carrying any so far, and I'm not big into ordering stuff online I can't see in person. So I headed out to my Michaels to see what I could find and low and behold what I found!!! It's not twine it's yarn but it had that spiraled effect that I've been seeing with the Twine. This brand was on sale 4 packs for $5. As you can see I already rolled the red one, so pretty!!

Over the last few months I've spied a few at my local flea market and about a month ago I found this Christmas tree ones at a local thrift shop. I actually have 10-14 of them!!! super cute! I didn't use them this year but hope to use them next season.

I really enjoyed my class today!! We made 12 cards total but i'm showing my favorites. I really like that the are simple yet super cute and I have alot of the punches/dies that we used.
The teacher is a woman that I had taken classes with previously at a different store a few years back, so it was nice to see a familiar face!

It's a very cold rainy day in Fl today. But I will happy and warm at my Card class this morning that I'm taking at my local Scrap store. I've not taken a class in a while, but it was a new year's resolution of mine to do more stuff for myself... like take classes which I usually love to do!!

I am!! One of my new year's resolutions is to clean out some of my mental cobwebs that are bringing me down. There is a person in my life, that i hold a grudge against. She is just a negative force in my life that i need to let go of. So I am putting it in writing that I am OFFICIALLY removing her from my life, my thoughts, my energy!!!! I'm done with her! (Wiping my hands clean gesture) I feel better already!!!

Well I've been a 2nd grade teacher for 6 weeks now. I'm adjusting to the curriculum and the kids. After being in 1st grade for 20 years, it's been challenging for me to say the least.
My kids are great, but I feel like I'm trying to fix some bad habits that have been formed academically. The change has not left me much time for stamping but I'm trying to find time!!
Hopefully I'll get my christmas cards done in the next month!!!

So since school has started I've had very little time for anything else!! But I knew I wanted to use my SU Top Note for a few projects for school.

The 3rd pic is for Open House when the kids come to meet me. The poem I found online, and we are going with a 'Star" theme this year so everything worked out perfect. The paper I got at

Michaels.

The project was to make new book basket labels. I teach 2nd, and in the K-5 classes we put books of similar genre or author or reading level, together in one basket on the bookshelves. So each basket needs to be labeled. I decided to make new labels this year and the 1st and 2nd pic show those.

I've been trying to get a headstart on my Christmas card this summer. I had cut the Joy and Noel last year with my Slice but hadn't made a card with them, they just sat lonely like all my other wonderful Christmas stuff in a tub waiting for me to get of my butt and start creating!!

the background papers came from a cardstock stack i got at Joann's last year after christmas too!

A friend/coworker was voted PE assistant of the year, so I made this little card for him.
I made the apple with my Slice and the paper somewhat ripped on the solid green apple so i had some patterned scraps so i made just the top and put it together to hide the rip. Waste not want not!!!

I was in a minor fender bender this afternoon. A young girl, totally not paying attention got my in the backside. I've not been in a car accident in at least 10 years! Luckily no one was hurt, except my babycar. So now we start the fun of getting it fixed and dealing with the insurance.

I already had the Top Note sections cut and put together, from last week when i was playing with the top Note Die. All I had to do was grab some ribbon, some self adhesive buttons from my stash and stamp the image.

I created this card for a Slice swap I joined, it is on it's way to Australia!
I love my Slice but I totally have not had time to play with it, but i had to make time to do this card.
I also finally got Photoshop elements so I can make my own watermarks, do you see it there on the bottom corner?? YEAH!! It's pretty plain and simple for now, but I'm just happy it worked! it took me 20 minutes just to do that much! LOL!!

Well in this case it's a gardenia plant, but you get the idea! LOL
One of my coworkers is battling cancer and winning!! We all pitched in close to $500 to help off set her medical bills. I had never done a money tree before and it was fun! After folding all the bills in the accordian fold, though, my fingers are a bit sore! I can't wait to see her reaction when we present it to her next week. This counts as my creation for this week cause folding all that money took up most of my 'free' time this week.
Oh and I used some wide ribbon that had been sitting in my stash and some SU rub ons to fancy up the pot.

I have been watching this jacket at Coldwater creek for about 2 months now. I just love it and it was originally priced at $79.50. I got it today for $19!!! Yum!!! They are having thier big winter clearance, even though it is still winter, but they are making room for spring stuff, so I scored some great deals today!
Now it the weather will just stay a little chilly ( in the 60's) for a bit longer so I can wear it!!!

I got a 6 oz bag of these for .24cents each!!! I am relatively new to the fine art of couponing. but i have been studying a few blogs and learned that many stores will let you 'stack' coupons. So here is what i did, went to Target and they had the 6oz bags with a manufacter coupon for $1 off a bag, each bag was 2.24 minus $1 left me at 1.24 , but I had a sunday insert coupon for $3 dollars off 3 bags, basically another $1 off each bag left them at .24 cents each!!! These are for my furry sister Millie, she eats way too many but it makes her and my mom happy!!!

Ok so I actually made some cards this week and it's only tuesday! Woo Hoo big pat on the back to me!

I dug deep into my stash for the paper and the embellishments, I would be afraid to estimate how long those little vinyl embellies have been sitting in my stash!

Oh and I saw on someone's blog that they chalked thier cuttlebug die before running the paper thru, so I tried it and I like the results, it's very subtle you can sort of see it in the pics.

Big Hugz to you!Our local chapter of "ELKS" donated $500 dollars to our school and in turn i get $125 as a classroom adoption!!PTA sponsors 'classroom adoptions' where companies can donate monies to the school and it will be passed down to the classroom teachers to use in thier respective classes.This year I will use the money to buy books on CD for my kids to listen to during work/group time.I am so excited! I think I will be able to get 8 books/CD's with that amount of $$.So if your an ELK or you know one, let them know that thier fellow ELKs in Florida made a public school teacher very happy in this new year!!!

How many heart stamps does one really need? i have 15! I guess there might be stampers who have more but for me this was an eye opener that i just have too much stuff!!! Plus it's been years since I've sent out many Valentines cards! other than for my students.
I am trying to go with more organization in the new year, so I am pulling stuff for VDAY and then trying to see what comes to me.
Hopefully I will create something with my 15 hearts this week to share with you!

I get these adorable apple juice bottles at my favorite bagel shop- einstein bros. so here is a before and after shot. I painted the cap with a paint pen, then added some SU rubons, then used some fabric scraps for the ribbon, tied a jingle bell to the end of the fabric ribbons and added some m&m's and I was done!! I made 2 for 2 of my bestest friends for Christmas.

They loved them!!!

since I eat at einsten's too much I will have more bottles for next year!!

I found this while I was Blurfing. There is no original poster so I was able to put it on my blog. I totally need to try this because being a lefty, I have a hard time following other's directions on how to get the perfect bow tied!!

I think I will look for one of those big salad forks the next time I'm in the thrift shop to make a bigger bow than just a regular fork! I'll let you know how it works for this Southpaw!!

Froggy tin for Brooke

Brooke's kindergarten teacher is into 'frogs' so when I saw this tin I thought it would be the perfect Christmas gift for her!! I then used my unfroggetable stamp set to make the tag. I also used my nesties to make the cirles. Very cute and easy to make. I also used some lace I had hanging around and attached jingle bells to make it a bit more Christmassy. I also made the little hat with red and silver stickles to also make it Christmassy.

But I figure once the season is over she can still keep it on her desk all year.

Of course Muffin had to give it the once over to make sure it was perfect!!

I went to the scrap expo in tampa today. They had close to 30 vendors. My favorite was Keller's Creations at www.acidfree.com.
I just loved thier clean crisp style. I did their make and take which i will post tomm. This pic shows one of thier displays that i thought was extremely cute!

I have resisted buying any kind of electric die cutting system. I went to a few demo's for the cricut and although it was impressive i resisited. I have my sizzix and cuttlebug and they have done well by me for a few years now.

Well about a month ago, my LSS was doing a craft sale and they were demo'ing the Slice by Making Memories. I fell in love with it immediately! and with a little peer pressure from my friends I bought one!!! well i had to wait 3 weeks to get me hands on it. In those 3 weeks I read all the review I could get too. Then I started getting buyers remorse. What had I done??

I finally got it 3 days ago. I finally got a long period of time to play with it today and the verdict is::::::: 2 paws up!!

I was nervous about the potential for wasting paper. Even though I have enough paper to open my own store (LOL) or be considered a fire hazard (LOL) I wondered how that would play out.

It is not a problem at all!! If you use a full sheet of paper, you just position the paper where you want it to be cut. then you can use you sheet for more than one shape too!!

I am really happy with it so far! Hope to post more creations with my Slice soon!!!

Alien sighting!!!

Well almost as strange as an alien sitting is me cooking anything that is made from Scratch!!!

My DH decided we should have a big pot of Chicken and rice soup today and I actually made it from scatch, no Cans, no pouches!!! I am not sure that i have ever made anything by myself from scratch. i hate cooking and am not ashamed to say I would rather order out than cook in.

It's just not my thing! but I would also have to say that i impressed myself with the soup. It actually looks, smells and tastes like my Mom's!!! Trust me you have a better chance of seeing aliens than you do of seeing a post like this from me again!!! LOL

I took a trip to my local thrift shop and look what I found!!! I love going to the thrift shop, I try to go often, but i hadn't been in awhile. I needed to find some stuff for school and I found this!!

I don't pay too much for purses, so I wouldn't be in the aisle at the store for a Fossil!!! I love big purses and so when I spied this one at the thrift shop it caught my eye. When I looked closer I saw that it was practically new and then I noticed the tag inside. I know Fossil is a pretty expensive brand. I tried to search this type and find a price but perhaps it's an older style. Needless to say it doesn't matter to me! OH and I paid $10 for it! Woo Hoo!!!

I made this for my hairdresser's soon to come grand daughter. I had my Hair dressers son when he was in 1st grade and now he's expecting a daughter!!! how time flies!!
I later added her name Keagan after this pic was taken. They are doing the babies room in 'Nemo" so i found the stickers at M's and the paper seemed perfect too!

I joined a swap on SCS to use Rockabella. I haven't done swaps in probably a year or more, so it was nice to push myself to create!! I had to use more than one layer or paper and at least one embelly. I also threw in the tab punch on the side with my Karen foster stamps spelling out star.
I really like the way she turned out! I forgot that the hostess was in Canada, so I had a bit of trouble sending the package to her, but hopefully she gets it OK and I send enough cash for the return postage. You would think the post office would be more Canada friendly but this is the 2nd time I've had to send something to Canada and both times it was a major ordeal!
